It was back to the Snetterton 300 circuit for the second time in 2014 for the final three rounds of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.
Following on from strong showings at Donington, the team were confident of ending the season on a high.
Their expectations were not unfounded as Diego Menchaca qualified on the front row with Charlie Eastwood continuing his vein of good form with fifth place.
In race one, after an early race flag and subsequent restart, Menchaca took the lead. Eastwood, starting fourth at the restart, had jumped to third off the line and when he moved up to second with a fine move into turn one, it became a Douglas Motorsport 1-2! Despite running in close formation, neither of the drivers made any mistakes and that is the way they finished- to the delight of the entire team. such was their domination, their nearest challenger was over 2 seconds back at the flag!
The reverse grid put both of the drivers on the back foot for race two but Eastwood managed to climb to eighth having initially dropped out of the top ten. In the final race of the season, Eastwood was determined to follow up on his earlier podium and from fifth on the grid, drove superbly to move up to third, ahead of many of the championship contenders by the flag.
“We have had plenty of pace all year”, said Team Principal Wayne Douglas, “but the cards have not always fallen in our favour so it is very satisfying to score a win, a 1-2 and three podiums at this, the final round of the Championship.”
