The finale of the 2016 British F3 season took place at Donington race track, on the weekend of September 10-11. The first two races of the weekend saw no podium finishes for the Douglas Motorsport drivers but they ended the season with a double podium in the season finale, Enaam Ahmed taking 2nd place with Thomas Randle in 3rd. It was a successful ending to what can be considered a successful campaign for Douglas Motorsport and the return of Formula 3 to the British motorsport calendar.
Enaam Ahmed, Douglas Motorsport
“I am happy to finally get back on the podium! I’ve been there or thereabouts for a number of races and I finally got my act together and put it on the podium so I’m really happy. The team have done a really good job and the car has been really fast here. This was the first time me and Thomas have been able to race against each other and it was a proper hard and fair race. Two Douglas Motorsport drivers on the podium is great!”
Thomas Randle, Douglas Motorsport
“It’s good. After the disappointment of yesterday and the round before at Snetterton, to come away with a podium in the final race is great. We’ve had the speed all weekend to win but sadly we couldn’t convert it yesterday.
It was a tough start to the race but fortunately I managed to get Matheus Leist and then Harrison Scott into the hairpin. I managed to throw the car in at the last moment so he didn’t have any opportunity to defend and then I was able to have a battle with my team-mate, which we really haven’t done all year. This is a good way to end the championship!”
